Fit any PDF or photo into a KB window — minimum and maximum
Your form is not GST or NEET — it is a state recruitment board, a university, a co-operative bank or a district office, and the notification says something like "certificate in PDF, between 50 KB and 300 KB". How the options work
- Maximum is the hard cap; minimum is optional — fill it only when the notification states a floor.
- A PDF that already fits is returned untouched, so text stays selectable and signatures stay valid.
- Too-big scans are rebuilt at the sharpest resolution that fits; Greyscale and Black & white make that resolution higher.
- Too-small files are padded with unused data inside the file — the pages look exactly the same.
- For limits of 1 MB and above, a long PDF that cannot fit can be split into parts instead.
Why a generic compressor gets this wrong
Every portal writes its limit a little differently — "not exceeding 300 KB", "between 50 and 200 KB", "size 20–100 KB" — and generic compressors only understand "make it smaller". They also never handle the floor, which is why so many uploads fail with "file size too small" after a compressor did its job too well. KBcut treats the limit as a window with two edges: it searches for the best quality under the ceiling, and if the result is under the floor it grows the file back into the window without touching a single visible pixel.

- Type the maximum KB from your notification, and the minimum if one is given.
- Select the PDF, or photos of the pages; pick PDF or JPEG output and the colour mode.
- Press Cut to size. The badge shows the final size against your window; download when it is green.
Questions
My notification says "up to 2 MB".
Type 2048 as the maximum and leave the minimum empty. A PDF that is already smaller is returned unchanged.
Why would a file be too small?
Some portals reject very small files as blank or broken. If the form states a minimum, KBcut pads the file up to it.
Does padding change my certificate?
No. The padding is unused data inside the file; every viewer shows the same page.
Should I choose PDF or JPEG?
Whatever the upload box accepts. If it says "JPG/JPEG only", choose JPEG — one image per page.
