NSP scholarship documents under 200 KB
Every scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal — pre-matric, post-matric, merit-cum-means, central sector — asks for a stack of supporting documents, and each one has to be under 200 KB. Students usually do this at a cyber café on a slow connection, and the upload fails without saying why. KBcut shrinks each certificate on the phone itself before you open the portal, so the upload goes through first time and your institute can read what you sent.

What the National Scholarship Portal upload checks
- Each supporting document is capped at 200 KB, in PDF or JPEG.
- Your application is checked first by the institute nodal officer, then at district or state level — every level must be able to read the certificate number and the issuing officer's stamp.
- A multi-page certificate should be one file, not separate uploads.
- Greyscale keeps stamps and signatures visible at a fraction of colour size; use Black & white for plain typed certificates.
- Re-uploading after a defect notice follows the same limit.
Caps on this page follow published portal guidance and commonly reported limits as of September 2026. The portal's own notice or on-screen error always wins — type its number into the cap box if it differs.
Why a generic compressor gets this wrong
Scholarship applications fail verification far more often for unreadable documents than for wrong ones. The temptation at 200 KB is to use any online compressor on the lowest setting, which blurs the certificate number and the stamp — the two things the verifying officer looks for. KBcut's approach is the reverse: start from the best quality and only step down as far as the cap requires, dropping colour before dropping sharpness. For a typical single-page income certificate that means a crisp greyscale PDF well under the limit, with room to spare for a second page.
How to do it

- Keep the cap at 200 KB and Colour on Greyscale.

Can I do this on my phone before going to the café?
Yes — that is the point. Open this page in Chrome, make every file, and carry them on the phone or send them to yourself.
The bonafide form has the principal's stamp in blue.
Greyscale keeps it. If it looks faint, switch Colour to Colour — the file will be larger but still well under 200 KB for one page.
My certificate is from DigiLocker.
DigiLocker PDFs are usually already small. If KBcut says it already fits, upload it as it is.
State scholarship portals too?
Most state portals use similar caps (often 100–500 KB). Type your portal's number into the cap box.
The portal still says my file is too large.
Portals round sizes differently. Set the cap a few KB lower — 190 instead of 200 — and cut again; the result badge shows the exact size.
