PM Kisan document upload under 100 KB
New farmer registration and corrections on PM-KISAN ask for the land record and supporting documents as small uploads — around 100 KB each. Land records are the hardest documents to shrink: dense tables, small numerals, handwritten entries and often a patwari's stamp over the top. What the PM-KISAN upload checks
- Uploads are capped at roughly 100 KB per document.
- The khasra / survey number, the area and the owner's name must be readable — the state verifies these against its own land records.
- Greyscale is the right default; land records rarely need colour and it wastes a third of the budget.
- Photograph the record flat, in daylight, filling the frame — shadows from the phone eat bytes and legibility.
- Many state land portals issue the record as a PDF; use that instead of a photo whenever you can.

Why a generic compressor gets this wrong
Land records are almost entirely fine lines and small digits, which is the worst case for compression. At 100 KB a colour JPEG of a phone photo turns the numbers into smudges. Greyscale helps; black & white helps more, because each digit becomes a crisp shape stored losslessly — often at twice the resolution colour could afford. If your record has handwritten entries in faint ink, try Greyscale first and compare the preview before choosing. Getting this right matters: an unreadable land record is sent back at state verification and the instalment waits until it is fixed.

- Keep the cap at 100 KB and Colour on Greyscale; try Black & white if numbers look soft.

eKYC and Aadhaar seeding?
Those are done through OTP or biometrics, not uploads. KBcut only helps with the files.
Can I use a screenshot of the land record from the state portal?
Yes, if every number is readable. Crop to the record, select it here and keep Greyscale — screenshots compress very well.
