Unlock a bank statement PDF — with the password from your bank

Banks email statements as locked PDFs, and every bank builds the password differently — usually from pieces of your date of birth, customer ID, account number, mobile number or name. Loan applications, visa files, income-tax replies and your CA all need a plain copy. PDFkey opens the statement with the password you know, inside your browser, and saves an unlocked copy with every transaction still selectable, so it can be searched, printed or compressed for upload.

How it works

Why doing this in your browser matters

A bank statement is one of the most sensitive files you own: account number, balances, salary, rent, every merchant you paid. Uploading it to a free "unlock" website to remove a password you already know defeats the point of the password. PDFkey decrypts it on your device. It also keeps the statement as text rather than images, which matters later: an unlocked text statement for a year is often a few hundred KB, while a scanned-looking one can run to many MB and fail portal limits.

How to do it

  1. Select the statement PDF.
  2. Find the password format in the bank's email and type the password.
  3. Press Unlock. Check the preview, then download — and compress or split it with KBcut if a portal needs a size limit.

Questions

I cannot find the password format.

Search your email for the statement message; the format is usually in the body or footer. Otherwise the bank's website or customer care will tell you. PDFkey cannot look it up.

Can my CA unlock client statements?

Yes, if the client shared the statement and its password with them. The statement stays on the CA's computer.

The unlocked file is too big for the income-tax portal.

Use Income Tax 5 MB — it splits long statements into parts without turning them into images.

Will the bank know I unlocked it?

No. Nothing is sent anywhere; the file is decrypted on your device.

Is PDFkey linked to my bank?

No. It is an independent tool with no connection to any bank.
