What PDFkey is for
Indian paperwork runs on locked PDFs and photocopies of ID cards. UIDAI locks the e-Aadhaar, banks lock statements, the e-filing portal locks the ITR-V, employers lock Form 16 — and then a loan officer, a scholarship portal or a printer shop needs an open copy, or both sides of the Aadhaar on one page, or a copy with the number hidden. PDFkey does each of those jobs on your own phone or computer, with the password you were given, and nothing more.
Questions
Can PDFkey find a password I forgot?
No, and it never will. PDFkey only uses a password you already know, or builds one from your own details using a documented format such as the e-Aadhaar rule. It does not guess or crack passwords.
Why not use any free unlock website?
Because the files people unlock and mask — Aadhaar, PAN, bank statements, tax papers — are the ones that should never be uploaded. PDFkey does the work inside your browser.
Does unlocking change the document?
The pages, text and images stay the same; only the encryption is removed. Digital signatures are usually not valid on the unlocked copy, so keep the original.
Is masking really permanent?
Yes. The masked copy is rebuilt from page pixels with the boxes painted in, so nothing underneath can be selected or recovered.
